U Patras

The University of Patras (UP) hosts approximately 21000 undergraduate students, 3200 postgraduate students and 750 faculty members. UP will participate in the project with two laboratories: The laboratory of Advanced Oxidation Processes (LAOP) and the laboratory of Chemical and Electrochemical Processes (LCEP), both belonging to the Department of Chemical Engineering. LAOP performs research on heterogeneous and homogeneous photocatalysis, electrochemical oxidation, wet oxidation, sonication and Fenton-like reactions for environmental applications. LCEP has long experience and internationally recognized work in the fields of electrochemical and electrocatalytic processes, reactor design and development of novel environment- and energy-related processes. Both laboratories have more than 20 years of experience in managing and carrying out research projects funded by EU and the Greek Government. Publications of the participating group members in international journals exceed 260 broadly cited papers, while innovative research results have been protected by several National, European and International patents.
