KU Leuven

KU Leuven is the largest university in Belgium in terms of research funding and expenditure (EUR 466.55 million in 2016) and charter member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU). KU Leuven has been involved in 229 MSCA projects, of which 111 ETNs, and has trained hundreds of young researchers in acquiring skills to transfer their knowledge into the world outside academia. An interdisciplinary consortium of 3 KU Leuven research groups with complementary expertise are involved in this proposal. The Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Analysis (LPA) has ample expertise in analytical techniques and has expanded its research towards environmental topics through the SideWave platform, wherein it collaborates with the Process and Environmental Technology Lab (PETLab), who’s main research focus lies on wastewater treatment with specific emphasis on advanced oxidation processes (AOP) for micropollutant removal. The Laboratory of Molecular Biodiscovery (LMB) has zebrafish-based platforms for small-molecule drug discovery and collaborates with LPA for challenging bio-analytical applications.
